The Moon - Southwest Quadrant

Picture taken in the early evening 10/28/76

Film: Kodak High Contrast Copy

Exposure: 1/2 Second

Focal Ratio: F/11

10 Inch Diameter Objective (F/5.6) With 2X Barlow and Extension

This picture was taken one day before first quarter and shows the Lunar Sea "Mare Nectaris (Sea of nectar). It is just left of lower center. Mare Nectaris is approximately 200 miles across.

Also seen along the right hand side of the Mare, (lower center), are 3 similar sized craters in a curved, vertical row. From the bottom, up: Theophilus, Cyrillus, and Catherina. These 3 craters are each about 75 miles in diameter. Also, it can be seen that Theophilus, (with the central mountain peak), was formed after Cyrillus because the crater wall intrudes into Cyrillus. In this picture South is up, and West is to the left. The film was developed in Perfection brand developer.
